I am Associate Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law and the School of International Studies of the University of Trento. I teach at the College of Europe in Natolin and serve as an expert member of the Golden Power Unit of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy. Previously, I was Assistant Professor of International Law at the University of Milan and the University of Geneva. My research and teaching focus on EU sanctions, international and national security law.
I work on the frontiers between law, power, and technology: I deal with states, sovereignty, and security, but also with the global economic order, golden power, sanctions, surveillance, cyber operations, and the transformations of the European Union. I like weaving together law and economics, reading judgments as strategic moves, understanding how AI and its “dark logic” change the way we think and decide. I do not settle for comforting simplifications; I prefer real interdisciplinarity, the kind that forces you to hold together case law, geopolitics, quantitative models, and even a bit of algorithms and trading when they help to understand risk and uncertainty.
